The 8th Grade Science students posed as teams of engineers to help solve a problem while investigating the phenomenon of flight. The students had to design a paper drone/airplane that could fly 5 meters in a 3 meter wide airspace and fly on its own once it left their hands. The students had a great time planning, designing, building, testing their airplanes/drones, as well as measuring and analyzing data. The students had to modify and retest their design until they were successful. To communicate their results, they presented their information to the class in a slideshow presentation. They learned that engineering often involves many failures on the road to success.

Spirit the City 2019: Character Craze
We are a part of Spirit the City 2019! We are helping to celebrate our communities by making character come alive. All elementary and middle schools were invited to take part in the annual "Spirit the City" event that is being hosted by Belleville Township High School 201. Our students designed a piece of art on a supplied paper that encompasses at least one of the character words that are provided by BASIC (Belleville Achieves Strength in Character). The art is being placed around the city. Stop by and see ours at the Scott Credit Union, next to Belleville East High School.
National Junior Honor Society Blood Drive
Our National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is always leading service projects in our school. Their latest service project was the fall blood drive. They had 25 donors! This collection number is enough to save the lives of 75 people. We remain one of the top middle schools in the area for blood drives. I am so proud of our NJHS students for all the service work they do for our school and community.

Soccer Families Supporting Each Other
Our soccer families support each other. Families bought embroidered wrist bands for the team in honor of a soccer athlete who lost his father this summer. Thank you to our Whiteside families for teaching our students to care for each other.
