6th Grade Book Buddies

I would like to thank Brenda Pruett for organizing and leading one of our new student organizations this school year:  6th Grade Book Buddies.  This wonderful organization meets once a month after school and periodically during the school day, depending on student schedules.  We are going to change the day of the monthly meeting.  The Book Buddies will now meet on the third Tuesday of every month.  We were competing with the Science Club and we want our students to belong to Science Club and Book Buddies!  The next meeting will be January 17th.

Winter Sports Tryouts

Girls' Volleyball (grades 5-8), Boys' Volleyball (grades 6-8), and Bowling Team (grades 6-8) tryouts will be in early January.  Girls 7/8 volleyball tryouts will be January 3 & 4 from 4:45-6:00 pm.  Other tryout dates are TBD.  All students interested in trying out MUST have a 2016-2017 sports packet and a current physical (less than 1 year old) turned in to the middle school office not later than Wednesday, December 14th.  Students must have a minimum 2.0 GPA and have no outstanding fees in order to try out.  No exceptions!  If you have questions, contact Mr. Jacob, Athletic Director X 3605.

7th and 8th Grade Dance

The Snowflake Ball will be held on Friday, December 16 from 7-9 pm.  In order to attend the dance, all students must have at least a 2.0 grade point average and be in attendance for at least half the day.

Band Concert

The Winter Band Concert will be this evening at 7 pm.  It will be a wonderful evening of musical talent from our middle school students.

Basketball News

Our 8th grade boys basketball team beat Carriel Junior High School on Saturday, December 3rd at the Grant Middle School Shoot Out.  It was an exciting game with an impressive comeback from our Warriors! The final score was 64-59.  Our Warriors are at it again tonight!

D.A.R.E. Graduation and Parent Teacher Club

The 6th grade D.A.R. E. graduation will take place on Tuesday, December 6th at 9 am.

There will be a Parent Teacher Club meeting on Tuesday, December 6th at 7 pm at Whiteside Elementary School.

Veterans Day Assembly

We honored our Veterans at an all school assembly last week.  We are grateful for their service to our country.  Thanks to Girl Scout Troop 159 for serving as the Color Guard.  Our Whiteside Middle School Band played patriotic songs and our student council speakers were inspiring.
