I am excited to announce that Mrs. Flint and Mrs. King are starting a new Whiteside Middle School Dance Team!  Try-outs will be held on September 27, 28, and 29.  In order to try-out, students must have a current physical on file and a completed sports packet by Friday, September 23.

Fall Read-A-Thon

Let's get ready for one of the best nights of they year:  the Fall Read-A-Thon!  It will take place on Friday, September 23 from 3-6 pm.  Students can finish that book they have been putting off and join us for a night of reading throughout the halls and classrooms of Whiteside Middle School.  There will be pizza, snacks, games, and a teacher performance.  Parents are welcome to bring their books and join us at 3:30 to read with their child.  September 20th will be the last day to sign up.  Only students who have returned the permission slip will be allowed to stay at school on the day of the Read-A-Thon.  Thanks to Mrs. King for organizing this wonderful Whiteside event!

G.O. Team

Does your child take pride in our school and the great things happening at Whiteside?  Does your child value a peaceful school community where everyone is valued and respected?  Does your child have the character and leadership skills that will guide other students to greater heights?  If so, then your child can apply to become a valued member of the GO Team.  Applications will be accepted by Dr. Hasenstab until Friday, September 16.  Thanks to Dr. Hasenstab for starting this wonderful student organization.

Band Performance

Our Whiteside Middle School Band did an outstanding job performing the National Anthem last night at the Cardinals game.  It was awesome to see our name on the giant screen at the ballpark.  Our band never disappoints and they do a great job representing our Whiteside District.

6th Grade Book Buddies

We have a great opportunity for our 6th graders to join a new organization called "The Book Buddies."  6th graders will go into Mrs. Pruett's functional life skills class and read books with her students.  We will read books at times during the school day as well as after school.  This organization will work to promote friendships and a culture of respect and inclusion.  The first Book Buddies meeting will be held on Monday, September 19 at 3:00 pm in Mrs. Pruett's room.  Please let me know if you have any questions about this new organization.

Parent Teacher Club Spaghetti Dinner and Book Fair

It is time to order your tickets for the delicious PTC spaghetti dinner.  The dinner will take place on Wednesday, October 12th from 4:30 until 7 pm at Whiteside Elementary School.  The menu includes spaghetti and meatballs, salad, bread, drink, and dessert.  The Sixth Grade Band and Concert Band will perform at 5:30.  The Glee Club performance will be at 6:15.  The Scholastic Book Fair will be open from 4:30 until 7:00 pm.  Everyone must have a ticket in order to eat.  Ticket orders must be turned in by Wednesday, October 5th.  I love forward to seeing you at the wonderful annual event!

Science Club

This is a friendly reminder that the registration form for Science Club is due on Monday, September 12.  The egg drop challenge will take place on Monday, September 26.

National Junior Honor Society and Eden's Army Blood Drive
