Veterans Day Assembly

We honored our Veterans at an all school assembly last week.  We are grateful for their service to our country.  Thanks to Girl Scout Troop 159 for serving as the Color Guard.  Our Whiteside Middle School Band played patriotic songs and our student council speakers were inspiring.

Rescheduled Booster Club Meeting

The Booster Club meeting has been rescheduled.  We will now meet on November 30th at 6 pm in the Whiteside Middle School Library.  I hope you can attend this very important meeting.

Our Whiteside Student Council members recently enjoyed volunteering at the Fountains Rehabilitation Center.  Students played games with the residents and enjoyed spending time with them.

National Network for State Teachers of the Year: Dr. Hamilton

Dr. Hamilton is now part of an elite crowd.  She is a lifetime member of a national organization known as the   National Network of State Teachers of the Year (NNSTOY). Dr. Hamilton will be invited to accept leadership roles to change and influence educational policies at the national and state level.  She will always be a Finalist for Illinois Teacher of the Year.  She will be attending the NNSTOY Conference in Washington, DC this summer along with all the former and current teacher of the year finalists.  We are so proud to have her not only represent Whiteside School District, but also the entire state of Illinois.

It was so inspiring to be with Dr. Hamilton and all the finalists at the Those Who Excel Awards Dinner in Bloomington, Illinois.  Their stories were uplifting and reinforced our collective belief that teachers change lives. 

Thanks to the Whiteside Fan Club for attending this special event.  The other finalists were in awe of Dr. Hamilton's support at the ceremony.

Family Science and Math Night

Let's get ready for one of the best nights of the school year:  Family Math and Science Night.  This is a friendly reminder that this event will take place on Monday, November 7th from 6-8:30 pm.  Registration is required in order to attend.  Thanks to Candace Hamilton and Amber Phillips for organizing this wonderful evening of STEM learning activities.
