Permission Slip for Solar Eclipse

The solar eclipse is a great learning experience to start the new school year.  Because it is unsafe to look directly at the sun, we have purchased eclipse glasses for all students and staff.  These glasses meet ISO 12312-2 standards as recommended by NASA, so that students can safely watch the eclipse.  Students will only be permitted outside during the eclipse if wearing the glasses.

Parent permission is required for students to participate in viewing the eclipse.  School supplied glasses are required for viewing.  Students whose parents do not complete the permission slip or choose to opt out of the viewing will be able to watch the eclipse via NASA's web-streaming.

We have purchased NASA approved glasses for all of our students, faculty, and staff for the solar eclipse on the first day of school, August 21.

Back to School Fun Fair

Don't miss the Back to School Fun Fair, sponsored by the Belleville Chamber of Commerce, at Belleville West High School on Wednesday, August 2 from 5:00-7:00 pm.  This event will feature a YMCA climbing wall, face painting, music, hot dogs, vendor booths, free school physicals, and free dental exams.  Free back packs with school supplies will be given to the first 1,000 students.  You must have completed our 2017-2018 registration in order to be eligible for a back pack.

Baseball, Softball, and Soccer Tryouts

All students entering 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade are eligible to tryout for baseball, softball, and soccer.  The tryout dates and times are Tuesday, August 1 from 8:30-10:00 am and Wednesday, August 2 from 8:30 -10 am.  In order to tryout, students must have a current physical on file (no less than one year old).  The sports packet and physical are due in the office by Wednesday, July 26th.

Sports Physicals

Does your child need a sports physical?  I am pleased to announce that we are offering sports physicals at Whiteside Middle School on Tuesday, July 25th from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm.  The physical will cost $15.00 (must pay cash or check made payable to Whiteside Middle School).  This is a great opportunity to get the physical now and be ready for the 2017-2018 school year sports tryouts.

Our next registration date will be on July 25th from 1-6 pm at Whiteside Middle School.

Requirements for Baseball, Softball, and Soccer

Students entering 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade are eligible to tryout for baseball, softball, and soccer.  Tryouts will be held on August 1st and 2nd from 8:30 am until 10:00 am.  Students must have a current physical on file (less than one year old).  The physical is DUE BY Wednesday, July 26th.  In addition, the students must have a sports packet (permission /insurance form) filled out and on file at school DUE BY Wednesday, July 26th.  I am looking forward to a great athletic season!

Student Schedules

All of the middle school student schedules are now complete.  Your child may receive his or her schedule at the end of the registration process.  If you have any questions or concerns about your child's middle school schedule, please let me know.

Registration Dates

We have two back to school registration dates for next week:  July 17 and July 19.  Registration on July 17 will take place from 1 pm-6 pm.  Registration on July 19 will take place from 7 am -12 pm.  I am looking forward to seeing all of our families at registration!

Sports Physicals

Does your child need a sports physical?  We will have a Nurse Practitioner at Whiteside Middle School during our back to school registration on Tuesday, July 25 from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm.  The cost for each physical will be $15.00 (must pay cash or check made payable to Whiteside School).   This is a great opportunity for our students to get their physicals so they are ready for the 2017-2018 school year and sports tryouts!

Back to School Registration

I am getting excited about seeing Whiteside families at our first back to school registration date:  July 17th.  We will be registering students from 1-6 pm.  Please bring two current proofs of residency- utility bills, tax bill, etc.  Utility bills must be June 2017 or later.  Proof of residency is required in order to register.  I look forward to seeing you on July 17th!
