Teacher Feature: Mrs. Flint

Mrs. Tiffany Flint was appointed to the SIUE Secondary Education Advisory Board. She will serve in this capacity to assist SIUE towards its Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation, CAEP, visit in Fall 2019.

The board’s overall function is to evaluate the curriculum and its effectiveness for SIUE’s Secondary Education program. In this capacity, the board continues to make strides towards improving professional education standards. To date, the board has examined the evaluation materials for CI315A and CI315B (including student teaching), developed the beginnings of a shared philosophy, discussed lesson plan requirements, and learned about initiatives in English/Language Arts, Chemistry, Biology, and Historical Studies.

A graduate of SIUE’s Master’s in Teaching program, Flint has taught at Whiteside Middle School for 5 years and has taught 6th grade composition, 6th and 8th grade literature and 6th grade social studies. She was also recently named an Illinois State Board of Education Those Who Excel Early Career Educator Merit Award recipient.
