NJHS and Eden's Army Blood Drive

The results are in from our latest blood drive.  We had 52 people through the door and 46 successful donors.  That is a new record!  Thanks to the National Junior Honor Society and Eden's Army for leading the way  in service learning.  We heard so many positive comments from our donors about the leadership displayed by our National Junior Honor Society members.

National Junior Honor Society and Concessions

Thanks to our National Junior Honor Society for working at our concession stands during the fall sports season.  The students are always energetic, polite, and hard working.  I appreciate everything they do to make our school a better place.

Softball Season

Thanks to our student athletes for a fantastic softball season.  We all enjoyed watching our athletes playing on the field and giving it their all.  Our players did an outstanding job representing Whiteside Middle School.  Thanks to Coach Poettgen for his leadership and dedication.

Soccer News

Congratulations to our Whiteside Middle School Soccer Team for winning 4th place in the Belle - Fair Soccer Tournament.  Our student athletes did an outstanding job representing our District.  They worked hard and made us all proud!  Thanks to Coach Dawn Vollmer for her leadership and dedication.

Basketball Tryouts

It is that time of the year to get ready for 5th-8th grade girls and boys basketball tryouts.  In order to try out, students must have a physical and sports packet on file by September 27th.  In addition, 6-8 students must sign up in their physical education classes and 5th graders must sign up in their homerooms.

NJHS and Eden's Army Blood Drive

Every 2 seconds someone in the United States needs blood.  By donating blood this Thursday, you can help.  One donation has the potential to save as many as three lives!  Your blood donation helps our local hospitals which are currently experiencing a shortage.  Need another reason to donate?  Donating blood burns 650 calories!  So, skip the gym this Thursday 3-6:30 and donate blood at  Whiteside Middle School.  This event is sponsored by National Junior Honor Society and Eden's Army.

Soccer Tournament, Baseball and Softball Regionals

Our soccer team plays Shiloh tonight, September 19, in the soccer tournament.  We are a three seed and we will play Shiloh at 7:45 under the lights at Belleville East High School.

Our baseball and softball teams start regional play on Wednesday, September 20th, at Whiteside Middle School at 4:15.  The Booster Club will have a full concession stand complete with Chik-Fil-A.  Come on out and cheer for your Warriors!

7th Grade Night

All 7th grades are invited to attend our 2nd annual 7th Grade Night on Friday, September 22 from 5:30-8pm at Whiteside Middle School.

This event will be an opportunity for all 7th graders to work with their peers and fellow students through fun, non-competitive activities.  The emphasis will be on positive communication, discovering common experiences, and sharing and listening to one another.  The more students share in common, the more apt they are to encourage each other and build up their peers!

We will begin this action packed and fun filled evening at 5:30pm with pizza and we hope that all 7th graders are able to join us for this 2nd annual event.

Washington, D.C. Trip

All 7th grade parents are invited to an important meeting about Whiteside's Washington, D.C. trip.  The meeting will take place on Tuesday, September 19 at 6pm at Whiteside Middle School.  Please attend this brief, interactive meeting for parents and students.  The trip dates are October 4-8, 2018.

Dance Team Tryouts

6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Dance Team tryouts will be held on Wednesday, September 20th from 2-4pm.  Mandatory clinics will be held on September 18 and 19 from 3-4:30.  All students trying out must have a current physical and sports packet on file in the middle school office.

Softball News

Our softball team beat Shiloh Middle School 16-10 yesterday, September 12th.  The team plays Joseph Arthur Middle School at 4:15 on Thursday, September 14th.

Broadcasting Club

The registration form for Broadcasting Club is due in the middle school by Wednesday, September 13.  We are looking forward to all the wonderful news broadcasts that we will be receiving this school year!

Our baseball team remains undefeated!  On Tuesday, September 12th, we play Shiloh at Shiloh Middle School.  Let's keep the winning streak going!

Science Club

The Science Club meets once a month.  Students have the opportunity to compete against or investigate with other members in science related events.  Many of the events challenge students to create a device that will accomplish a specific task, such as to protect an egg from breaking in the Egg Drop Challenge or design/build a paper airplane that flies further than the rest.  The Science Club is for students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade.

Students must complete a registration packet in order to be in Science Club.  The registration packet includes a one page design challenge essay and diagram.  Students must return the registration form, essay, and activity fee to Mrs. Stald by September 11 in order to participate in this year's events (Mrs. Stald cannot accept registration forms without the design challenge essay and activity fee).

Soccer

The Whiteside Middle School Soccer Team beat Central Junior High School on Wednesday, September 6.  The team plays at home against High Mount on Thursday, September 7th.  Go Warriors!

Sports Packets for Cheerleading Tryouts

7th and 8th graders interested in trying out for cheerleading must attend the cheer clinic on September 13th and 14th from 3:15-4:30.  Tryouts will be held on Friday, September 15th, 3:30-5:00.  All students trying out MUST have a current physical and sports packet on file at the middle school office no later than September 6th.  Students can signup to tryout during PE.

Whiteside Spirit Wear

Whiteside Parent Teacher Club and the Booster Club are offering back to school fall 2017 spirit wear with many style choices and colors.  There are also two new items: lanyards (middle school students can order) and clear water bottles with the Whiteside decal. Student Video: Hurricane Harvey Service Project

As part of our  service learning and current events curriculum, some of our 8th graders created this video for our students.  They wanted to do their part to help the people in Houston.  In times of crisis it is important to remind ourselves of our basic human kindness.  Thank you to our 8th graders for organizing this service project.  Click the link below to view their video.
