Fall Fest

These photos will get you in the mood for fall!  Thanks to Dr. Hasenstab for organizing our Second Annual Fall Fest.  It was a blast!  We had smores, a hay ride, roasted hot dogs, and outside games.  The best part was spending time with our old and new friends.  Thanks to our G.O. members for leading the stations.  Their leadership was valuable for this event.  Thanks to Mr. Bob Trentman for the pumpkins and all the hay rides.  We all appreciate his willingness to support our students.

Belleville Philharmonic Society

Our 5th graders enjoyed a visit from Angelina Mclaughlin-Heil from the Belleville Philharmonic Society.  Mrs. McLaughlin-Heil played the violin, viola, cello, and base and educated our students about orchestral music.  The students even got to play a few notes on the violin!  If your child is interested in joining the Youth Orchestra, please contact Julie Herr at bellevilleyouthorchestra@gmail.com.

Basketball News

We are off to a fabulous start for the 2017-2018 basketball season at Whiteside Middle School!  The 8th grade girls and boys teams won second place after some intense, spirited games.  Way to go Warriors!  We are looking forward to a great season.

Those Who Excel: Mrs. Tiffany Flint

Each year the Illinois State Board of Education honors the top educators in our state at the Those Who Excel Dinner and Awards Ceremony.  Our own Mrs. Tiffany Flint is being honored as one of the state'stop Early Career Educators.  Select teachers in the state who have taught less than five years are honored with this prestigious award.  We are proud of Mrs. Flint!  She works hard each day on behalf of her students.  Mrs. Flint has high expectations and creates a classroom environment where all students can be successful. 

Those Who Excel: Dr. Jean Hasenstab

Each year the Illinois State Board of Education honors the top educators throughout the state at the annual Those Who Excel Dinner and Awards Ceremony.  This year we are proud to announce that our own Dr. Jean Hasenstab will be honored with an award of Excellence, the highest honor for a School Support Personnel.  Dr. Hasenstab will receive her award from the Illinois State Board of Education on Saturday, October 28 at Illinois State University.  Congratulations to Dr. Hasenstab!

Soccer Team

The Whiteside Middle School Soccer Team got the opportunity to serve as ball girls/boys and the SIUE soccer game!  Thanks to Coach Dawn Vollmer for this wonderful opportunity!

Dine and Donate: McAlister's

Come out and have great food and support a wonderful opportunity for our Whiteside Middle School 8th Grade Washington, D.C. trip.  We will have a Dine and Donate at McAlsiter's Deli on Wednesday, November 1st from 5:00 - 8:00 pm.  100% of all proceeds will help support the 8th grade trip.  Our students will be at McAlister's to meet, greet, and thank you for your support of this once in a lifetime opportunity.

8th Annual Family Science and Math Night

The Whiteside Middle School's 8th Annual Family Science and Math Night will take place on Wednesday, November 15th from 6:00-8:15 pm.  The events include STEM Science, Robotics, Spectacular Spectroscopes, Powerful Puff Rockets, and Innovative Ice Cream.  Registration is required to attend this family event.  This is not a drop-off and go event.  Families must attend with the students.  Whiteside Elementary School siblings are welcome to attend.  You must be present to win door prizes.  The registration form is due by October 20th. 

Student Council: Great American Fundraiser

The Student Council Great American Fundraiser has been extended until October 20th.  Please consider supporting this fundraiser as it supports many important programs such as field trips and extra curricular activities in our District.

NJHS and the Belleville Marathon

Our NJHS students do so many service projects for our school and greater community.  Last month they ran a cheering section at the Belleville Marathon.  They spent their entire Saturday cheering on runners and representing our school.  They won the award for Most Creative!

Our Guidance in Operation Team (G.O.) has been very busy organizing  a membership drive for our Warriors of Whiteside (WOW).  They are signing up students and they made this informational video to promote the organization.

Spaghetti Dinner Tickets

The Whiteside Parent Teacher Club's Spaghetti Dinner and Book Fair will take place on Wednesday, October 18th at Whiteside Elementary School from 4:30 until 7:00 pm.  The menu includes spaghetti and meatballs, salad, bread, drink, and dessert.  The 6th Grade Band and Concert Band performance is at 5:30 pm.  The Glee Club performance is at 6:15 pm.  It is not too late to order tickets.  Ticket orders must be turned in by Thursday, October 12th.  You will not want to miss this great family event!

Aspire to Inspire

Our theme this year is "Aspire to Inspire."  The students, faculty, and staff work hard to build each other up daily.  We all encourage each other and create a positive learning environment.  Here is a great photo of our NJHS students cheering for Mrs. Bolding at the Belleville Marathon.

Band at the Cardinals Game

The Whiteside Middle School Band played God Bless America at the Cardinals game on Wednesday, September 27th.  Whiteside Pride was on display as the band sounded fantastic.  Thanks to our band members for a great evening of music, pride, and Cardinals/Cubs baseball.

Great American Fundraiser

The Student Council kicked off the Great American Fundraiser on Tuesday, October 3rd.  This fundraiser supports several important activities for the Whiteside School District.  The money from the fundraiser goes to support field trips, clubs, and organizations and other important academic programs.  The fundraiser ends on October 17th. 

D.A.R.E. Program

The D.A.R.E. Program has started in 6th grade. Thanks to the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department for bringing this important preventative program to our school. 

Egg Drop Challenge

Our Whiteside Scientists conducted the Egg Drop Challenge at their first meeting of the year.  Students created a crate to protect their egg.  Students were required to meet certain criteria including having dimensions less than 20 x 20 cm.  The crate could not contain glass or wood and it had to keep the egg from breaking when it was dropped at 12 ft.
