8th Grade Holocaust Museum Learning Trip

The 8th graders attended a learning trip to the Holocaust Museum this week. They toured the museum and had the opportunity to listen to a survivor of the camps. Mendel Rosenber ,91, gave an outstanding talk to the students about his life. He lived in Lithuania and was sent to two different concentration camps. His father and brother died in the camps, but after the American soldiers liberated Dachau, he was reunited with his mother in a displaced persons camp. He was 13 when he was sent to the camp, he was 17 when the camp was liberated. He and his mother immigrated to the United States and he was then drafted into the military during the Korean War. He came back after he completed his service, and worked while also completing night school. He then moved to St.Louis with his wife where he started a window company. He says his greatest legacy is his children and grandchildren. He loves the United States and says he would be forever grateful to the American soldiers who liberated the camps.
