Edible Cells in Mrs. Beaston's 5th Grade Science Classes

The students in Mrs. Beaston's 5th grade science classes created edible cells!  The students used different candies for the parts of the cells. The students wrote down the cell's function while they were assembling them.  The Oreo acted as the animal cell and the chocolate chip cookie acted as the plant cell.  The students labeled the following animal cell parts:  mitochondrion, vacuoles, nucleus, cell membrane and cytoplasm.  All of these cell parts were used for the plant cell parts with the additions of cytoplasm and cell wall.
