Fall Fun Fest

We had a blast at our Fall Fun Fest!  We went on hay rides, roasted marshmallows, played games, ate delicious grilled food with our friends, and went home with pumpkins from the Whiteside Pumpkin Patch!  Thanks to Mr. Bob Trentman for sponsoring this wonderful event!

Art Club: Fall Art

The Art Club used their creative skills to decorate pumpkins in non-traditional ways.  The members stenciled, spray painted, and glittered pumpkins to create a festive holiday table for all of the students to enjoy.  Thanks to Mrs. Sue Schleipman-Burke for all her work with the Art Club.

8th Grade Washington, DC Trip: World War II Memorial

One of the highlights of the 8th grade  Washington, DC trip was meeting and talking with a World War II Veteran on an Honor Flight at the World War II Memorial.  The students learned about his tour of duty in World War II.  They honored him and thanked him for his service.  You can go to the Honor Flight website to view the video of our students talking to the World War II Veteran.  The website is the Two Tiers Honor Flight Inc.



8th Grade Washington, DC Trip: National Archives

The Whiteside Warrior "W" looks great on the steps of the National Archives!  Our students learned so much about our nation's history on this once in a lifetime trip.

Those Who Excel: Superintendent Peggy Burke

It is an honor and a privilege to announce that our own Superintendent Peggy Burke was awarded the prestigious Those Who Excel Award for her long standing leadership in our District.  She was awarded the highest category of Excellence!  Mrs. Burke will be honored at a special dinner and ceremony on Oct. 20th at Illinois State University.

This was our first year to have a cross country team!  We are so proud of our runners.  They represented us well as they learned about perseverance, commitment, and determination.  We know that these athletes have a bright future ahead of them.  Thanks to Mr. Leingang for coaching this outstanding group of runners!

Those Who Excel: Debbie Penrod

It is an honor to announce that our own Debbie Penrod was chosen to receive the Those Who Excel Award from the Illinois State Board of Education.  Mrs. Penrod will receive this prestigious award at a special dinner and ceremony at Illinois State University on Oct. 20.  Mrs. Penrod loves her students and Whiteside Middle School!  We are proud to have her on our Whiteside Team.  Congratulations to Mrs. Penrod.

Softball Student Athletes

We are so proud of our softball team!  They gave it their all and improved tremendously throughout the season.  We had a lot of fun cheering them on this season.  We will miss our 8th graders, but we know they have a bright future in high school in academics and sports!

Baseball Athletes

Our baseball team had a great season!  We cheered on our Warriors as they made it to the final regional game.  We are proud of the way the athletes represented us both on the field and in the classroom.  Thanks to Coach Keith Jacob and Troy Griffith for their dedication to our baseball athletes!
