Fifth Grade
Challenge Classes had an awesome opportunity when we visited St. Clair County
Courthouse and performed a mock trial.
The script written by the class was based on the fairy tale of Peter
Rabbit (Mr. McGregor vs. Peter Rabbit).
We were able to perform the trials in an actual courtroom with all
students participating as one of the characters in the trial case. The students acting as jurors came to a
unanimous decision in favor of the defendant.
Judge Zina Cruse spent time listening to the two trials and shared
information about our Illinois Court System.
This helped each of our Challenge Students learn more about the judicial
system. It was a great experience that
our Fifth Grade Challenge Students will not forget!
